The final bills have arrived. We officially now only need to raise a little less than $1,000 to pay off everything and it's done, kaput, gone.

Flat out, you all are a miracle for getting us down to the last less than grand.

So, print sale and art show deals still continue in full force and effect. At this point, they will also stay so through the end of October, as the beginning of the meager thanks for everything.

All the details are here in the previous post:

So that's it.

And if there's anything I can ever do for you guys, let me know. This is one that I'll be paying back/forwards/sideways.

I wish I could really let you all know just how much this has meant to me, hell, to all of us. Ah well, I'll just have to try, won't I?

My heart is so full that it feels like it cannot be contained by my chest.

Most excellent and awesome news from the orthopedist: not only no nerve damage, but absolutely no ligament damage either.

Thank you, everyone. Thank you, dear sweet gods.

Thank you to Denison for getting her to the ortho and thank you to the MiL who also has been helping watch out for Barrie this week. We survived yesterday with no big whoop, as while Barrie is still crutching around, she can now at least manage the kitchen and getting herself to the teapot. This is a big deal. Now if only small children would get with the program and be a wee bit more helpful.

Have started application of lots of Arnica Montana both going in and as topical ointment. Topical is doing huge things already. Her feet have ceased to be purple color and are doing that gorgeous rainbow spectrum that bruising goes through as it productively heals.

Again, please keep the prayers/energy/good vibes coming. She's already moving around so much better just in the last 24 hours. At this point, it's any rotation movement that's causing horrible agony. Keeping the feet straight, she can almost pretend to be okay.

Bills still en route, but I think we're only waiting on the last three now. Print sale and art show deals are still in full force and effect and will stay so through the end of October.

Again, I love you all. If ever anyone needs proof that there are good humans in the world and not all need be lost, I am trotting all of you out as proof.

Y'all are awesome.

Barrie is off to see the orthopedist today. Now's when we pray that she did not suffer any permanent damage.

Tomorrow and Thursday are going to be a wee bit challenging. Denison without an LJ has a prior commitment, so she won't be able to hang with Barrie in the afternoon. Mornings are covered by the wonderful MiL, but there's a gap of a few hours in the afternoon. If anyone is around or can hang out with Barrie from noon till around 5 or so, please, let me know.

One the one hand, she seems to be recovering well, but her pain seems to be not abating and that concerns the hell out of me. Please keep the prayers/energy/good vibes coming. This is not looking to be an easy or quick recovery.

In the meantime, bills are still coming in/en route. Print sale and art show deals are still in full force and effect and will stay so through the end of October.

One last thing. Every day. Every single damn day. Every day, one of you, yes YOU, does something to leave me so grateful and so thankful, that I just start crying when I think about it.

You guys are made of total awesome.

So, here's where we stand as of Friday.

Because of all of *you*, yes, you, the first few bills are covered and we were able to make an appointment for an orthopedist to see Barrie on Tuesday. While there are no breaks, the ER doc had voiced a concern about ligament damage, so we're going to make sure there isn't.

So keep the prayers coming that this is so.

That being said, all the bills are not in hand yet. More are coming. So the song remains the same and the print sale and art show deals are still in full force and effect and will stay so through the dates I stated.

All the details are here in the previous post:

http://quennessa.livejournal.com/249681.html

What this means, at least here in the short term, is that we have room to breathe and you, yes YOU, bought us time. Literally.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I'll say it again. We have the best friends, chosen family, complete strangers in the entire wide wide World.

Thank you.

Here's the update on Barrie, aka the Ant, aka [profile] barriequark.

I ended up taking her in to the emergency room last night after all. By the time I got home, the ankle was worsening, not improving, even with an entire day's worth of icing and staying off of it. Also, when she told me that just trying to put weight on it made her want to scream, I shoved dinner in us and got us to the ER.

She has what in the lingo is referred to as a bilateral sprain, or in normal human speak, she has managed to horribly sprain *both* ankles.

Yes.

Both.

While it is a relief that the ankles and/or feet are not broken, as some of you who have suffered sports injuries (like me) know, sprains unfortunately can sometimes take longer to heal than a straight, clean break.

What this means is that Barrie is pretty hampered in caring for the Bean and the Mouse, since she is the family childcare while I and the husband are at the dayjobs.

We're in trouble. And she needs help.

As some of you also know, Barrie doesn't have health insurance, being the in home one, and a freelance artist and writer.

I shit you not, as we were leaving, even though we told them she had no insurance and no ability to pay and that she would need to be signed up for Medi-Cal, the discharging nurse handed Barrie a bill. For $750. Which doesn't include the attending physician's fees or the X-ray fees or anything else. That's just for the ER. And it doubles if it's not paid within five days. So, that's 50% off, which is awesome if you, y'know, have that kind of money just laying around.

Which she does not.

Why can't we have a public option for healthcare already?

Anyway, moving on.

She has a deviant art site with art for sale here: http://friendlyquark.deviantart.com

I am extending my print sale and donating all my art sales to her medical and Rx costs until the end of October. Details here: http://quennessa.livejournal.com/242359.html

This also means that all art sales from the next two shows, the artwalk on Friday, October 2nd and the Book & Art Party on Saturday, 11/7 will also go to helping offset her medical expenses.

You can send donations to either her or to me. If this is something you'd like to do, ping me at angela.n.hunt at gmail.com

And if you are local and can just lend a hand to Barrie, since she has such limited mobility for the near future, also ping me at the same email. I can also be reached on my cell at 310.890.8617.

On a personal note, I'm exhausted. Three hours in an ER is always an adventure, even if the writing brain rather loves it for the dialogue and soaks it up, while constantly saying, ooo, I gotta use that in a story. Prayers, energy, Reiki, spells are all also appreciated. Just a word in the god of your choice's ear for her.

I know we're all experiencing different levels of compassion fatigue with all that's going on in the world. So if all you can spare is just a quick prayer? Believe me, it helps. Just knowing that you all are thinking of her and us, it matters.

I have to immediately call out an awesome thank you to Mike and Denison without LJs, who showed up without a moment's hesitation yesterday, when I had to bail to work. Without you, yesterday would have been a lot harder. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
