And on to the Hunt Press offerings!
The Red Shoes
365 Days to Enlightenment
by Ayamanatara

Deschooling Gently
by Tammy Takahashi

Suspended, my next photo book (the enormous coffee table/suitable for killing someone with tome) is still in proof mode. If all goes well, it'll launch in about a month, just in time for the Bean's baby shower.
I unearthed a new abstract as well in the unpacking of art, and I'll be putting that up on Etsy in the next few days or so. It's one of the smaller pieces and will be up for $100. If you're looking for a more accessible painting to own, here's your chance!
And now I must hop like a bunny.

Last Call: Caryatid and The Wishing Coin
Dec. 29th, 2008 02:25 pmThey make awesome gifts for you or someone you know, even post Holly-daze.
Caryatid

The Wishing Coin

Both books are also available through Amazon.
The Red Shoes is on its way to me, supposedly and I'm trying to be patient.
Suspended is taking longer, because the Index is murdering me. Gods, that's a lot of photos. A LOT.
I'm still low, but I wrote today and I made a beginning 2009 Goal/Task List. "Tiny moves, Ellie. Tiny moves."
They make awesome gifts for you or someone you know.
Caryatid

The Wishing Coin

Both books are also available through Amazon.
The Red Shoes went to the printer last night. I'm waiting for the test copy to show up now, which sadly won't be for two weeks. *twiddles thumbs*
Also, I dug out the paintings to go to South Africa. So, I'm not shipping books to Dubai, but it is art to another continent.
I need coffee.
Will You Take the Red Shoes?

So. Missed Friday. Here we are on Saturday.
Went to yoga/dance last night and got my ass kicked as usual, thank Crom. I may be sore as hell today, but it was worth it. Got the kinks out of my neck.
Have added another 1K in words on Broken Rainbow and seem to be cranking away on it. I've also knocked down another 1K in words on Strange Weather, so, creation on one hand, destruction on the other. Mostly it feels good to just be moving again on them.
Best of all, Chapter III is done on Broken Rainbow, this being Draft 0 and all. And a very ugly Draft 0 it is too.
Painting has not happened. Nope. Neither has photo editing. These are my tasks for this weekend.
If I am good, I will get to go see Indy 4.
Tonight, hamburgers and time with the fam.
And maybe a nap. A nap would be luscious.
The Deed Done
Jun. 4th, 2008 02:38 pm And at last, the dance is done.
Photographer's Note: again, no feet in the shot. Hee!!! Love it.

My day has been wobbly. Other freelancery fell through.
I did manage to get about 1,000 words written on Broken Rainbow though. Bonus. It's beginning to flow again, which is awesome. Out of it spawned an idea for two different short stories unrelated to the novel. I'll probably start The Night is an Adder tonight and start The Beauty of Uncertainty tomorrow.
In the meantime, I need to get more stories sent out. The Witch of Nob Hill and another story are still looking for homes, so I gotta schlep, which I haven't been.
I gotta paint tonight too. The canvas is yelling at me every time I look at the paint corner.
Oh bugger, I forgot to buy batteries... No in process photo of the painting yet. Sorry.
And yes, must edit more photos. Still a long way to go in sorting the April shoot.

House: still no word.
Jobhunt: nada. bupkiss. yeah.
End the Dance II
May. 26th, 2008 08:10 am Too tired to go on...

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!
My hands are covered in paint this morning, even after the scrubbing I gave them last night. Like Jilly, I can't ever seem to clean it up off of my skin entirely, and I rather like that.
The pillars are in on the new painting and I'm waiting for the compound to dry. The downside of working with sculptural media is that it dries slower than just straight acrylics. I'll probably move on to the hills today and get those in instead. If the gods are good, the pillars will be dry by this evening and I'll be able to put in the shadows on the base color.
The sun appears to have come out for Memorial Day itself, which cheers me up. I've grilled in the rain before, but I was not looking forward to it. The plan is to take it as mellow as possible today and possibly watch really cheesy comedy. I'm thinking Danny Kaye and The Court Jester are in order. Something of that nature.
What else?
Hmm.
That's about it. Very happy with the painting.
Anyway, it looks to be a lovely day outside. Someone turn on Sheryl Crow and Soak Up The Sun... I'm going to go outside and drink some more coffee in all that gorgeous sunshine.
The Girl Falls II
May. 24th, 2008 04:13 pm ...flesh too weak to go on, but the Shoes dance on.
* * *
Today was yard sale. Did okay for the crappy weather and what was left over went to Goodwill. Huzzah! I could dance. But I'm too tired.
There's too much stuff still in the termite-infested garage in the backyard, but it's a start. Now the only thing to do is deal with straightening up the house after the mayhem we waged dragging stuff out of here for the yard sale.
Oh, and FYI, in our neighborhood, books don't sell. Yeah. Good safety tip.
So.
That's been the big activity for the morning. Now to just get my body moving and help the other adults in housecleaning.
Oof.
Hope you all are having an awesome Memorial Day weekend so far.
The Red Shoes Dance V
May. 22nd, 2008 07:54 am And dance and dance and dance...

The Ant is ranting about current politics. Which is good. But I haven't had enough coffee to entirely track.
* * *
Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. I got a full night's sleep, but I feel like I didn't.
* * *
I wrote a new short story last night. I'm letting it rest for a few days before going back for the edit. It's an odd little beast: The Commodities Rebel. My brain is clearly hanging out in odd land.
I'm not painting. I am managing to get more photos edited, but that's about it. The stress has killed a lot of my creativity. Yet we get up and keep swinging.
No word from the mortgage company. I hate waiting.
And on that note, I must get ready for work. Looks to be very warm again today.
Oh, and I have an interview tomorrow for a job I already know that I don't want. Yeah. *sigh*
The Huntsman II
May. 13th, 2008 12:56 pm And here is the wonderful Charles, who agreed to be part of our little fairy tale.
The utilikilt made me very happy.

Things are still a bit challenging this week, but seem to be slowly unwinding. So that's something.
The Mouse brought home four silk worms to take care of from her school. One of the visiting teachers brought them in and when the Mouse asked if she could take some home to take care of, she said she could, but only if her parents said yes.
Of course I said yes.
They are currently living in a Hello Kitty lunch box with the top open. The Mouse and the Ant have gone to get more mulberry leaves for our four new pets and I am in search of a butterfly cage. They're apparently going to cocoon soon, according to the teacher.
Baby butterflies. The significance does not escape me. In shamanism, butterflies are the ultimate power of transformation. I have a preserved Ulysses Swallowtail on my office wall for the very same reason.
Not all change is bad. In fact, sometimes what's left over is utterly beautiful.

Are you ready?
First of the new stuff then. For those of you following on flickr, this isn't that new, but for the rest, ta da!
A while ago, the Mad Model and I got obsessed with the story of the Red Shoes, both the fairy tale and the movie. If you haven't seen the movie, go get it. DUDE.
This is how amazing the Mad Model is. She took her beat up gillies to the shoe guy in her neighborhood and that lovely man painted them red. You'd never know they were tan leather to start....
So we begin our story.
Once upon a Time.
A Girl.
A pair of Red Shoes.
Begin.
