So, I'm going to be opening up the Spring Print Sale here in a few days. If there's a photo you've always wanted to own, let me know so I can make with the linky for you. I'm looking to do $20 for an 8x10.

Buy my husband a new pair of shoes!

Or if you just want to donate, I can always use the Starbucks cash. Make with the clicky at the bottom. Even a dollar helps.

Today was really rough. Mouse is going through another growing phase with her brain and has grasped the concepts of "shy" and "different". Both of which I was also as a child.

And she's picked up from some people that according to *them* (boo hiss), being shy and different isn't "good". Or so her brain parses it.

Needless to say I've spent the last two days explaining to her that she is fine and dandy just as she is. Being shy or cautious and especially different is just fine.

And yeah. The bloodstains are from the person I had to murder who introduced this concept to my daughter.

Fucker.

So to the world at large, I state it again. Difference/diversity is the spice of fucking life. If you can't hang with it, I'll stab you through the eye.

And NO ONE tells my little girl that she's not good enough for not wanting to be a proverbial social butterfly. Friends aren't about quantity. They're about quality.

I'm living proof of that. And the funny thing is? When you focus on the quality of your friends?

The quantity takes care of itself.

And to all of you I am blessed enough to call friend?

Thank you for being in my life. It's having you all around that made it possible for me to tell my girl with confidence that she's just fine the way she is.

Because I have the friends to prove it.

You know, some of the most interesting people I've ever met started out shy and different. And while we're still different, we're a lot more mentally developed. Funny how that happens. She will be just fine. She has lots of love and support behind her.

Shy and different are better than just the same as everyone else.

And we don't feel threatened by other people being different.

my 3 yr old often feels shy and is slow to warm up to people but we have never made it about his "beingness", just how he feels. It is funny to watch ridiculous grown-ups trying to break through when he's not ready, and he's gotten good at telling them off =O And we're all so "different" that I don't think my kids have any idea what "normal" is ;-)

Same with us. And it *is* the ridiculous grown-ups who are in the wrong to try to break through like that. Here's hoping my Mouse will learn to do the same as your boy. :)

And ditto on being an exceptionally eccentric family. Besides, what the hell is normal anyway?

WTF?

DUDE, who is the bastard who made Janie feel bad? *Pulls out Katana* What the fuck is wrong with people. Different is what makes us real and wonderful! Please kiss Miss Mouse for me and tell her I think she's FANTASTIC! -The Mad Model

No one worth discussing. But she's lucky to have all these people to defend her.
