The title is lacking.  So's the brain, so I blame mind fatigue.

Grit in the eyes.  Bean has figured out the new schedule and tried to be awake.  Not too bad, actually.  The Mouse routinely kept me up twice as much when she was a baby.  I have coffee.  All is well, though I forgot my lunch, drat it.

Drive in to work was glorious.  Everyone's jetted early for the long weekend, so it was a smooth ride.  On days like today, I love driving.  I love my Mustang and I love being able to give her some speed, zooming in to downtown.  Bad air and all, LA is a pretty downtown.  Not as gorgeous as my San Francisco, but I get a similar thrill when I see the skyscrapers resolve into view.  I dig cities.  Tonight, I'll put the top down and let the wind screw my hair up.  Oh yes.

Have no plans for the long weekend, except to grill for the fam and watch some movies.  Work on the house and hug my girls over and over.  We may possibly even brave the beach.  If we get up early enough, it shouldn't be too dire.  The Mouse would love that.  She's a true California surfer girl in the making.  Hmm.  Will need to acquire a larger umbrella if we're doing that though...

Yeah.

Life is good.

Oh!  And the Mad Model is coming down again in July!  And possibly bringing new victims...  bwhahahahahahahahahahahahaa!

Got the photos in the queue for flickr, but they weren't done by the time I needed to roll in to the dayjob. Picture tonight then.

No hormone soup today and aside from an upset stomach and lack of sleep, I feel pretty good.

Morning was the kind where the pale sun washes out the eastern horizon to white, no sign of blue, leaving the world looking faded and lacking in contrast. It's warmer and the wind, for the moment, hasn't picked up. It will later I'm sure.

Had a dream about people I haven't seen in years. It's staying with me a little, I'm not sure why. A rather twisted nostalgia for places I've never been and people I haven't seen in so long that gods alone know if we'd recognize each other if we met on the street.

And for today's non-sequiter, Don Henley is (for me) a writer of quintessentially Los Angeles songs. I've always loved Boys of Summer and Sunset Grill, but until you live here? You get the sadness, but only the surface. Here, I get it deeper. The girl with her hair pulled back and those sunglasses on. The basket people mumbling. The auburn sky.

It fit the twisted nostalgia I woke up with.

Don't look back, you can never look back.

But I always do.
