He didn't show.

I got to the hearing and he wasn't there. Wasn't even late.

So. I gave my testimony and my documents and the officer is going to render judgment some time in the next week.

Afterwards, well...

There might be an appeal, but that would cost money and goes to straight litigation.

I would say more, but this is still in play and won't be resolved apparently any time soon.

Yet, I am vindicated. I'm on the record now. I was even given an opportunity at the end to mention how this whole affair is costing us our house, cost me a well-paying job and broke my daughter's heart, when the friendship was destroyed.

But looking back, I, of course, have to question if we were ever their friends and if they are capable of having friends. But that's just my opinion.

If you're wondering why I'm not being more forthcoming, a) process is still in process and b) I'm not putting anything out that can even remotely be construed as libel.

I will give my opinion though, to which I am entirely entitled: the people in question are frauds, cheats and flat out thieves, but most of all, heartless and cold. That's the only thing I can accept that allows them to sleep at night, knowing what they've done, not just to me, but to several other people who have *not* come forward to fight back.

The silver lining in this was that the hearing officer said to me as we were leaving, "It'll get better, I promise."

From his mouth to the gods' own ears.
