They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Eleven years ago, my family and I spent most of this day, certain that we had lost my Aunt at the Pentagon, only to find out she’d decided at the last minute to not go in to work that day.
We were lucky.
So many of my friends were not.
To you, yes, you, right there. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for the good you do in the world. It matters. No matter how small or insignificant you think it. The smiles you’ve given. The friend you have been. The help you’ve offered. It matters.
These small things are what change the world.
These small things are what make us better as a species.
For today, a prayer then from my chosen mother, with my own changes, the prayer I’m saying for everyone I know and love today:
The Light of God(dess) surrounds you
The Love of God(dess) enfolds you
The Power of God(dess) protects you
The Wisdom of God(dess) guides and directs you
Wherever you go, God(dess) is
And all is well
And so it is
Amen.
So mote it be.
