Charge of the Humanist

O Human Being, adore the spirit of your highest ideals
Be free from slavery, in body and mind
Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in the ecstasy of joy of living on this earth.
Love is unto all beings. ...
Human love abounds upon the earth.
Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.

For behold, oh Human, you are both alpha and omega, and you will attain your Self at the end of desire.



Note: Yes, it is a variant of the Charge of the Goddess. But I fully believe it is possible to "pray" and be a humanist/atheist. For me, the Charge is the fundamental admonition, superseding all prayers in my own practice. It is a reminder and not a beseeching. Stripped down to the Human, it still makes sense to me.
