Home Again, Home Again

Thank the dear sweet gods.
Flight back was near empty and I had a row to myself. Couldn't sleep, but I had room.
There is nothing in the world better than a little girl running as hard as she can into your waiting arms. Nothing. Followed by hugging your husband and your sister till you can't breathe.
And then falling asleep on the couch, Hogfather on the television, a snoring child in your arms and a pillow that actually fits your head under your neck.
The only moment that nearly unseated me completely was going to bed last night, getting under the covers and then wondering what felt wrong.
And realizing that the tiny cat paws climbing up your body are gone. And the bedroom is very, very empty and seems too wide and sad.
This trip has really, really rearranged my brain furniture in ways that I think are going to be sorting out for a while.
I've been up since 5 AM, but I did manage a solid six hours of sleep, which is a whole hour more than I was managing when I was traveling. So. Here's hoping I survive my first day back at work today, after the travel adventure.

So.
Haven't read LJ in 12 days. If there's something you think I should know or would just like to share, please post a comment. I feel like I've been cut off from the world and the information blackout is killing me.
How are you all?
How's your holiday season treating you?
Talk to me, folks! :)

Date: 2007-12-12 08:42 pm (UTC)I only have the gifts I bought in Italy. I am behind the eight ball, gift wise, and ditto on the "how few there will be" front. The Mouse will be covered just fine, but the budget is tight. But whatever. It's not about the gifts, y'know? Sorry to hear that you have to leave the Man behind to go on visiting. But money making is important.
