Trixie, nee Gilvert, the kitten we gave to one of the Mouse's school friends, came back with a weak positive for Feline Leukemia.
What this means is that all of the cats at the house have been exposed. It means that more than likely the real reason Pumpkin is not getting better, is because he has a full blown case of it. It means that Isis is for certain a carrier. It means that Lou and Speckle have been exposed, and in good conscience, we cannot find homes for them. Lou and Speckle may never develop the disease.
I had to take Pumpkin to the emergency vet yesterday. He had started bleeding from the nose. He was too small to draw blood from to find out if he had Feline Leukemia or FIP (feline AIDS), so I was able to lie to myself and say it was just a chronic sinus/infection thing and take the antibiotics, high caloric food and hope for the best.
But I can't lie to myself anymore.
I've lost a cat to Feline Leukemia before. I know what it looks like.
I have to stop now. Or I'll start crying again and I don't want to.
Please pray, send good will/vibes, energy, donations for the upcoming vet bills.
EDIT: As requested, here's the Paypal addy to use if you want to donate to the Pumpkin Kitten Vet Fund - angela.n.hunt at gmail dot com.
I said it before and I'm saying it again. I'm not letting him go without a fight. I will NOT.
cathouse_mary, get your cats tested ASAP. The evidence points to the entire colony having been exposed. Please tell everyone who has one of the cats from the colony.
