Silver Moon

Moon in a silver cup
Desert longing for rain
Dreams leaving empty
All pass away with
The sound of sirens
Echoing down the stone canyons
Glass reflecting sky
In trapped panes
Souls in steel cages
With no hope for that Moon
That Moon
I see her in my hope
Since dream is long gone
The heat of the concrete
Takes them and my heart
Hollow and a stone
Together they make no beat
No flesh
A bone of no strength
Brittle and tired
Tired
No matter the sleep
No sea to drown in
The world stays thin
Bare in the daylight
But not the honesty
Of true nudity
Just bare of feeling
Mechanical and rote
No room for that silver, silver Moon
