Well, until last night, I wouldn't have agreed with you. LOL Maria (our dog) was until recently, a reluctant running companion. BUT she has been the most faithful, dependable, and stalwart running companion I've ever had.

And last night was the first time she ever pulled me through a bad night and a bad brain. So, I can now say, yes. Dogs make the best running companions. :)
