My Yule List
Dec. 1st, 2010 10:16 amI'm not normally a Meme Sheep, but considering how I have seen demonstrated over and over again the magickal property of Ye Olde Internet, and there are things I actually *do* want this year...
Have a Yule/Winter/Whatever Meme!
The rules:
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friends friends, or just random journals, or [info]holiday_wishes/[info]wish_list) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Got it? Okay. So here I go:
1. An Arthur/Ariadne Inception icon of my very own. I am partial to BAMF!Arthur and Smart!Ariadne, so... :)
2. A copy of the Inception shooting script.
3. A big one: a new high end computer to replace the Behemoth with enough processing power to run film editing and Photoshop.
4. Another big one: a Canon 5D, the latest version of the camera with two lenses, don't really care what kind as long as one of them is a prime lens.
5. The embarassing one: a Yuletide Inception fanfiction starring A & A, see above for modalities, but with guest stars of the whole team where a Christmas heist goes horribly horribly wrong in every comedic way it can. Smut is always appreciated in that too.
6. Help fixing my Mustang. Baby girl needs a tune upand new fuses and a diagnostic to figure out why I have no working heater. EDIT AS OF 12/15/10: Blower motor and one resistor are toast. Looking at another $250 repair. Not work I can do myself. *weeps piteously*
7. A Navy pea coat. Not a fashion one. A real, honest to gods, from the damn surplus store. Men's size Medium.
8. A pair of black fingerless lightweight gloves.
9. Any number of Lush bath bombs
10. And last, but not least, holiday cards. Lots of holiday cards. Because you guys are frikken' awesome!!! These cards are gorgeous!!!
So that's my list. What's yours? Feel free to put it in the comments or send me the link to your post. I have a ton to be grateful for this year and I am consumed with the urge to Secret Yule Fairy it up this year.

Next post is going to be to virtual yule fairs and some of my favorite things.
